i heart puritans

"The Puritan view of man and his sin and God and His holiness would prohibit any of those great heralds of the Gospel from making such a statement as 'God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life'" -Dr. R. Bruce Bickel

serving our husbands through a nourishing diet

for all of you current and future wives out there, I highly recommend these two blogs on "serving our husbands through a nourishing diet" (part 1 and part 2)

her main points are:

*many studies show that married men live longer.  diet is a part of the explanation behind this.
*we help our husband fulfill his ministry roles by doing our part to make him healthy.
*many nutrient dense foods that are demonized by current health providers (ie butter, raw whole milk, grass-fed red meats, etc) are an integral part of a healthy diet (along with fresh fruits and veggies, of course!)
*the proverbs 31 woman had servants, but cooking was still important enough that she did it herself (v 15)

what if your husband objects?  she gives these practical tips:

*submission, prayer and/or a respectful appeal are crucial
*if he objects to the cost, research the many ways to make an organic diet economical.
*if he objects to changing the food he eats, make the same food you have always made in a healthier way (ie soaking your grains, buying grass-fed meat, desserts made of unrefined sugar, make your own salad dressings and mayonnaise, etc)

when it is your desire to "do your husband good" (prov. 31:12) in this fashion God is glorified!
